My dog is a hard chewer and usually shreds soft toys in a day, but the rubber edge on this flyer has held up through weeks of tug and fetch. It glides a good distance when thrown and floats, so I don't have to worry when it lands in the pond.
Took it to the lake last weekend and it glides forever before sinking, so my lab got a real swim out of every throw. The soft rubber rim means no yelping when she snaps it out of the air, which was my whole reason for switching from a hard plastic disc.
The soft rubber edge really is gentle—my lab catches it mid-air and doesn't flinch. It floats well enough that I can toss it into the lake and he'll paddle out without me worrying.
